직전이다. 책을 보는 사람들은 사진 작가처럼 젊은 여성을 보게된다. 반복은 그녀를 보아주어야만 한다는 긴박감을 강조하고
있다. 끝부분에 다다르면, 우리는 한 젊은 여성의 상체 탈의장면을 대부분 뒤에서 볼수있다. 이것은 매우 남성적인 시선이지
만, 한편으론 그저 과거의 간단한 패턴을 반복하는 것은 충분하지 않음과 사진을 찍지 않음 또한 옳지 만은 않다는 것을 알고
있는 것만 같은 남성적 시선이기도 하다.
그래서 다시한번 이전과 비슷하게 말하지만, 두가지의 가능성들 중에서 단 하나만을 선택하는 이상한 위치에 갇히는 것은 우
리가 두가지의 방법 모두 얻으려고 함보다 덜하게 할 것이다. 그리고 이 방법은 나에게 통한다.
The book contains 2016 photographs of a young woman whom the photographer is compelled to photograph. Roughly half of the photographs were taken in an apartment at night, with the subject sitting at a table, in front of a window. The other half have her photographed against the sea, right before the final light of a day is gone. The viewer is made to look at the young woman just like the photographer does. The repetition enforces a sense of urgency to look, of wanting to look at her. Near the end, we see the young woman, mostly from the back, with her top taken off. It’s all very male gaze, but it’s a kind of male gaze that knows that merely repeating the past’s simple patterns might not suffice, while not photographing also wouldn’t be right. So just like before, there we are again, stuck in this strange position where opting for just one of the two possibilities would leave us with less than trying to have it both ways. And this works for me.
